I like that various Koerner children get their birthdays noted on the front label of wines. Cute. Happy year one, Zoey Jane Koerner! This is an unfined and unfiltered riesling. A single vineyard wine; planted 1974.

It delivers texture and interest well beyond most of the squarer, linear and lean offerings of Clare, concentration too. Good verity to the variety in citrus and green apple characters but a gentle nutty savouriness comes in and delivers x-factor. Attractive fragrance, pretty with added floral, jasmine and green tea elements, the palate similarly so. Excellent extension of flavour too. Nice to have a little chalky pucker elevating things likewise. Such a genial, pleasing, pretty wine to drink, with mettle of bolder personality. Right on!
